OK, so I am from IL and am very, very excited about Barak Obama who is running for Senate in my great state. he just gave such a moving speech at the democratic convention.

I especially liked the bit about "the audacity of hope" -- "it is slaves sitting around a fire singing freedom songs," I can't remeber the middle one, but he ends with something like, "it is a skinny African-American kid beleiveing that there is a place for him in these United States"

I just love the idea about the "audacity of hope" -- he's brilliant. Mark my words -- first African-American president --

I was blown away by Barack Obama and his speech. I loved it. Heck, it even made Erick (who doesn't agree with me politically) want to vote for the guy.

That was a great part: it is a skinny African American kid with a funny name believing that there is a place for him in these United States. Speaking from a girl with a "funny" name.

You can see the speeches on msnbc.com

It's really a shame that the networks didn't broadcast the convention today.

I, too, am from IL and think Obama is great. I was at my parents house prior to the primary elections and my dad had on the Democratic debates for US Senate. I have never been into watching any of the election debates, but I was drawn into this one. So many of the canidates were so wrapped up in slamming each other instead of addressing the issues, not Obama. He was calm and tried to refrain from personal attacks on any of the other canidates. I knew then that this guy was ahead of the pack. He has such a wonderful tone when he speaks and really seems to be in touch with the American people. It will be intersting to see what he can do as our rep in Washington! 2thumbup.gif

I'm not from Illinois but would love to support his efforts to become senator. He's intelligent, well spoken and positive. You could tell that he's a cut above the rest.

I only happened to catch a minute or two of his speach last night on MSNBC as I was flipping by, and I was blown away. This man has got some serious speaking skills. He will go far!

I didn't catch it on TV, but listened to his speech via MSNBC On Demand. I was really impressed by his speech....we certainly haven't heard the last of this bright charismatic man.

OK -- I admit it -- as his delegate numbers grow I am getting completely excited and went back to find when I first started thinking about him because I remembered that I was on c.com watching him and thinking -- holy crap, he's the real deal. So I found it -- 2004. I guess it is when most people first started to take notice. Wowee.
